New Student Checklist

Congratulations on your decision to attend Rensselaer! On behalf of the Institution, we extend a warm welcome to you and your families as you join the Rensselaer community. We understand this transition can be challenging, but we want you to know there is a whole university here to support you. Below is a list of things to complete to prepare yourself to join us in a few short weeks. Orientation is an important part of the student experience - filled with opportunities to connect in-person and virtually, helping you to navigate Rensselaer and beyond.

1.  Orientation will occur on Friday, January 7, 2022. Links and times will be sent to your email by January 4. Please note this program is mandatory and unfortunately no outside guests are allowed at this point.

2. Submit your photo for your Rensselaer Student ID. Visit the Campus Card Office website begin. IDs must be submitted by January 4, 2022. You will need to do this for residence hall check-in.

3.  If you have already picked up your RCS ID and set up your email, you will also need to download and install Cisco VPN and Cisco AnyConnect Duo. After configuration, you can access RPI systems including your email at:  https://webmail.rpi.edu. If you have any problems or have to still set up your RPI email, please contact the Help Desk at (518) 276-7777, or submit an online Support Request.  Moving forward, all official business from RPI will go to your RPI email and no other email addresses. We suggest you check your RPI email daily.

4.  Access and complete all required compliance modules. To access the module please use the following link: https://rpi.percipio.com/. (The login for Percipio is your RCS ID (which is your RPI email minus the @rpi.edu) and your password to your RPI email account.) You will see the module in your “My Assignments” section on your home page. Alternatively, you can access the module by selecting the drop down menu on the upper right hand side of your screen and selecting “Compliance”.

5.  Prepare for class registration that will open on December 15, 2021. To find out when your time ticket turns on please log into SIS, select “student menu” on the top tab. Once in student menu select “Check Registration Status” from left hand side and your time ticket will be visible. This is the time your account will be active and you can add courses. Prior to registering please review the “how to” video on adding classes.  Please note a Rensselaer adviser will contact you to start the advising process to get you set up for registration.

6.  Sign-up for on-campus housing!  After using your new RCS ID and password to login, follow the instructions to complete the housing application, and sign your housing contract. Housing preferences are accommodated based on deposit paid date. Questions? Contact The Office of Student Living and Learning at (518) 276-6284 or email reslife@rpi.edu.

7.  Once you have registered for classes, you will want to purchase your books. The Rensselaer Collegiate Store features a ‘Shop by Student ID’ function. Students can enter their RIN and the system will generate a shopping cart based on all the courses they are currently registered for.

8.  Spring 2021 semester eBills are now available. You are responsible for accessing them through your Student Information System (SIS) account which will link you to CASHNet.  You can designate an additional user in CASHNet by enrolling them to have access to the eBill. Please keep in mind that you must enroll someone as a designee in order for them to have access to the eBill. Note eBill is the only way that bills are distributed.

9.  Start planning for your arrival. Plan to move into your spring housing on Thursday, January 6, 2021 between 9 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Once you arrive, please go to the Armory (building 37 on the map) to complete your required antigen and PCR COVID-19 tests, then pick up your housing keys.

10.  Finally, should you have any questions please join us for a live Q & A session:
