We are delighted that you are joining the Rensselaer community and look forward to meeting you at Transfer Student Orientation (TSO). We have been working hard to put together a program that you will find useful and enjoyable. TSO marks the beginning of your new membership into the RPI community and is an opportunity for you to gain tools to ensure a smooth transition into Rensselaer. Incoming Transfer Students - Communication Timeline:
June 19th: First official correspondence from Student Transitions outlining timeline, advising expectations and goals
June 16th: Second webinar for admitted transfer students, 3pm. Invites will be distributed via email from Transfer Admission at Rensselaer
June 29th: Third webinar for admitted transfer students, 10am. Invites will be distributed via email from Transfer Admission at Rensselaer
July 6th: Second preparation correspondence from Student Transitions outlining timeline, advising expectations and goals.
July 22nd: Final webinar for admitted transfer students, 3pm. Invites will be distributed via email from Transfer Admission at Rensselaer
July 27th: Third preparation correspondence from Student Transitions reminding students of online formatted orietnation and what to expect of the coming semester.
August 3rd – 14th: Advisors will be connecting with students and preparing for registration
August 17th – August 28th: Transfer Student Registration
August 24th – August 28th: Transfer Student Online Orientation via Percipio, Parent Engagement Webinar with Undergraduate Class Deans, Student Transitions Open Office Hours
Topics covered during Transfer Student Orientation
TSO is set up as a series of highly structured initiatives that cover numerous topics of concern to new students. During TSO you will have the opportunity to meet new classmates, interact with faculty and student leaders, and become familiar with campus facilities.
Your program will cover the following:

- Campus Resources and Engagement
Disability Services for Students
Please notify Disability Services for Students at (518) 276-8197 and the Office for Student Transitions at (518) 276-6655 of any special needs you may have, if you have not already done so. This will ensure that we are prepared to assist you prior to the start of Fall term.
Preparation for Advisement
Prior to TSO, please review the Rensselaer Catalog and Class Hour Schedule online at http://sis.rpi.edu. You will receive more specific information during your advising session but this will allow you to see which classes are offered ahead of time.
Student Health Center
Please send in the paper immunization form that your physician’s office completes and signs. Please also visit our website to complete the four forms via the Online Health Portal. (http://studenthealth.rpi.edu/, click on the “new student” tab). All full-time students must have health insurance that will provide on-going, routine care in Troy, NY. To meet this requirement you must either enroll in, or waive out of (with comparable insurance) the RPI health insurance plan. Enroll or waive via the Online Health Portal (deadline is September 15). AlcoholEdu and Haven are mandatory on-line education courses, which will open on July 31, 2018. Part 1 needs to be completed as soon as possible. Part 2 must be completed 45 days after classes begin.
Transfer Student Orientation Fee
The charge for Transfer Student Orientation is a one time fee of $175. This fee will appear on your student account bill – please do not send money now.

Questions regarding Rensselaer billing and payments may be directed to the Bursar’s Office at (518) 276-6610. Questions regarding financial aid may be directed to the Financial Aid Office at (518) 276-6813.
