Rensselaer's schools come together to celebrate Summer and compete.
The Center of Gravity is thrilled to announce the Mid-Summer Celebration, a vibrant community event themed “RPI Derby,” set to take place on July 17th, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Darrin Communications Center Great Hall. This event promises an evening filled with engaging activities, delicious food, and a chance to connect with fellow students, staff, and faculty.
The Mid-Summer Celebration will feature a variety of interactive competition stations hosted by different departments and organizations, including:
- Rubik's Cubes Challenge by the School of Science
- Logic Puzzle by the Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences
- Price Estimation by the Lally School of Management
- LED Breadboard Circuit by the School of Engineering
- Rock Painting and Plant Adoption by Student Success
- Season Ticket Sales by Athletics
- Petting Zoo and Trivia by the Union and WRPI
- Fire Pits and Lawn Games by the Mueller Center
- Relaxation Area by Arch
- Welcome and Giveaway Table by Student Success
- Bicentennial Photo Ops
Attendees can also look forward to a carnival themed menu featuring Chicken Spiedie Sandwiches, Carnival Corn Dogs, Beyond Sausage with Peppers and Onions (Vegan), Fruit Salad, Carnival Popcorn (four flavors), and a special Bicentennial Dessert.
- Dinner will be served in the Commons Dining Hall
In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Residential Dining Hall to ensure all activities can continue in a comfortable and safe environment.
