The RPI Orientation Experience: A 5-Part System for Student Success
At RPI, Orientation is more than a welcome—it’s a strategic, five-part system designed to help your student confidently transition into college life. Each component plays a vital role in building community, providing support, and preparing students for a strong start. Details about the Fall 2026 Orientation and NRB program will be posted soon.
1. Summer Webinar Series
Before students arrive on campus, they can participate in a series of live webinars covering key topics like academics, student services, housing, and wellness. These sessions are a great way for students and families to start learning about RPI early and feel informed.
2. Overnight Trips
Offered as part of our Navigating Rensselaer & Beyond (NRB) programming, these overnight trips give students a chance to bond with peers in an adventurous and relaxed environment. We offer four types of overnight trips: summer camp-style experiences, small group excursions, peer-led adventures, and a community service focused trip. Registration opens June 5, 2026.
3. Family & Student Orientation
This full-day, in-person event offers a wide range of sessions for both students and families. Meet faculty, staff, and fellow students while learning about the resources available on campus at RPI.
4. Navigating Rensselaer & Beyond (NRB)
NRB is an immersive experience filled with programming designed to help students acclimate to RPI. With interactive events, adventure blocks (also opening for registration on June 5, 2026), and shared experiences, students begin building meaningful connections and campus confidence.
5. Beyond Blocks
The orientation journey continues into the first six weeks of the semester. Through Beyond Blocks, students participate in open houses, club fairs, workshops, and social events that help them stay connected, get involved, and thrive in their new environment.
