What is CSTEP?

Supported by the New York State Education Department, the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) is an academic enrichment program dedicated to increase the number of economically disadvantaged students and others who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields (STEM). 

What opportunities are available through CSTEP? 

Students eligible for CSTEP have access to academic enrichment and research opportunities in STEM content areas.

  • Supervised training in research methods
  • Graduate/professional school admissions preparation
  • Standardized tests preparation
  • Academic and career development activities
  • Peer mentoring & tutoring with the Student Success Center

Who is eligible and how do I apply? 

To participate in CSTEP, RPI students must: 

  • Be New York State residents
  • Be economically disadvantaged
  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing STEM careers or licensed professions
  • Maintain at least a cumulative GPA of 2.0
