Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond

Starting classes, meeting peers, and exploring a new geographical area all at once may seem intimidating for many first-year students making the transition to college and campus life. But it’s not like that for incoming first-year students at Rensselaer.

Rensselaer officially welcomes new students and introduces them to the local community through a week-long series of events known as “Navigating Rensselaer & Beyond” (NRB), the official continuation of the orientation program. Created under The Rensselaer Plan in 2001, NRB is organized around three general themes: adventure/team building; cultural/historical; and community service opportunities—all designed to help students get to know one another.

With move-in upon us and the first day of classes just around the corner, we are excited to announce our Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond (NRB) Schedule. These virtual events are here to help you become acclimated to your new home and all it has to offer. Whether you are going to be on campus or attending remotely, Rensselaer has a number of tools available to you to ensure success.

Schedule

The NRB schedule is 100% mobile-friendly in our Guidebook App. Add events to your personal schedule and access campus resources from your phone! We also encourage you to look back on the Summer Timeline as needed to reference past communications and recorded webinars.

Follow along and win prizes by using our Activity Card:

  • Take a look at the list of activities and choose your favorites.
  • Use the checkboxes to track your progress as you complete the activities.
  • Complete all of the required activities, and as many optional activities as you want! Note that some events are being offered multiple times.

WebEx

The campus has adopted the WebEx platform for remote collaboration, and your license allows you full access to all of the applications. For details on how to activate your account, visit the Multimedia Services website. If you have problems, please visit the Help Desk site and submit a trouble ticket.
